AFTAB AHMAD earned his Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University where he wrote his dissertation on Mushtaq Ahmad Yusufi. He was the director of the AIIS Urdu Language Program in Lucknow from 2001 to 2006 and has been a lecturer in Urdu at the University of California, Berkeley since 2006.
