HOMAYRA ZIAD was born in Pakistan and holds a Master's in International Relations from Yale University, where she is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies. She has worked as a reporter and editor for the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs in Washington, D.C. She is the editor of Chowrangi, a quarterly magazine devoted to the dissemination of progressive Pakistani and Pakistani-American voices.
