CHRISTINA OESTERHELD teaches Urdu at the South Asia Institute of the University of Heidelberg. She wrote her dissertation on Urdu author Qurratulain Hyder. She has written many articles on nineteenth-century Urdu literature and translated contemporary Urdu fiction into German.
