GEETA PATEL is Associate Professor of Women’s Studies, Wellesley College. Her primary work is on South Asia, gender and poetry. Her book, Lyrical Movements, Historical Hauntings: Gender, Colonialism and Desire in Miraji’s Urdu Poetry, will be out in Fall 2001 from Stanford University Press.
