ROBERT PHILLIPS is currently a doctoral student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has studied Urdu at the Berkeley Program in Pakistan and Hindi in Udaipur on an American Institute of Indian Studies grant. During the Fall semester of 2001 he conducted the University of Virginia's Urdu language program in India.
